Valley Ministers Association
The Chester Valley Ministers' Association (CVMA) is an active,
growing group of men and women, both religious and lay, whose mission is to
promote, sponsor and support a range of initiatives that help the needy in Kent
and Northern Queen Anne's Counties. Monthly CVMA meetings are held in
neighboring churches where humanitarian groups throughout the county come to be
heard and supported in their work. Each January, CVMA sponsors the annual Dr.
Martin Luther King Breakfast, which is now in its ninth year and has become an
anticipated community tradition. At this event, significant funds are raised
toward scholarships and grants that have benefited the following organizations:
Rebuilding Together, The Good Neighbor Fund, The Community Food Pantry, The
Samaritan Group and The Townsend Memorial Clinic. Dr. Ann Hennessey, a member
of UUCR until her recent death, is honored at this event for being a founding
member of CVMA and a leader in humanitarian work. As CVMA continues to increase
its outreach, additional programs are being planned for celebration as well as
support and healing within the community. The recently held 'Vigil for the
Planet,' following the Gulf tragedy, is an example of this. New members
are most welcome and needed for the important work being done by this organization.
