Audit Committee
The UUCR Audit Committee consists of two UUCR members elected at the
annual congregation meeting. Each
year one new Audit Committee member is elected for a two- year period.
This allows for an overlap of the auditors and continuity from year to year.
The annual audit is
conducted after the close of the fiscal year (the fiscal year runs from July 1st to June 30th of the following year). The audit consists of the following:
·
A review of the financial figures as determined by examining
the financial records kept for the previous year by the Treasure. This includes the day-to-day
expenditures in the checking account and a review of the savings and Money
Market accounts. A comparison of the balances is made with the actual account
balance in the bank. Any
discrepancies are investigated and documented.
·
A complete review is made of the line item budget comparing
the budgeted amount to the actual expenditures.
·
A random examination of one month’s entries is reviewed for
accuracy and compliance with good accounting
practices.
·
An overall examination is made of the financial books and
procedures to insure that the by-laws of the church are being adhered to.
A full, written,
comprehensive report is made to the UUCR Board within 30 days of completion of
the audit. The report covers the
financial aspects of the audit and any recommendations that the Audit Committee
deems appropriate.
